I chose this small family hotel for it´s excellent location right next to the Mont Royal subway station. Rue St. Denis with it´s restaurants and shops is around the corner. Thirdly, the mountain Mont Royal with it´s beautiful park is within walking distance. This is a barebone budget hotel offering reasonable accommodation in a very expensive city. Unexpectedly in a busy neighborhood the room was very quiet.
The hotel gives the client a key to the street door. The lock is rather tricky, you will have to manually lift the door a bit to get it open. This was explained to the client quite clearly, no complaint there, but even in a budget hotel, this should be fixed. It is not a pleasant situation to stand in a strange street, trying to get the temperamental lock to open.
The hotel has an excellent location right beside a subway station and near the corner of St. Denis and Mont Royal, two great shopping and eating streets. The staff didn't speak English very well but we were able to communicate on basic issues. The rooms were clean and comfortable and we really liked the little fridge for storing drinks and fruit. The free breakfast was helpful but needed supplement. The baked goods were bought from a grocery store. The coffee was from a machine but tasted good. We took apples and bananas and yoghurt. We bought some milk and cereal and fruit which we stored in our fridge.
The room was a bit warm, on days with a high of 21 degrees celsius. We were told that the window airconditioning units would be installed on June 6. This would help with the temperature and also the noise from the street. With a cafe below the hotel and the busy Mont Royal street, there was loud talking and some loud noise from young people in the late evening and even at night.
The location is excellent: right beside the Mont Royal Metro Station and within walking distance to many restaurants, bistros and cafes. I was surprised to find there was a continental breadfast included in the price. It is a busy street, but there were good blackout curtains. T.V. and WiFi reception was good.
Wasn't keen on the shared bathroom, shower facilities, but for a couple of nights it was o.k.
Location, price and convenience to the falmily business I was in Montreal for.
This hotel is located in a really interesting part of Montreal and is right beside the Metro station. This makes it a good base to visit the other area of the city
The parking is 3 blocks away and there were 2 flights of stairs to the room
The central location, closeness to the subway
Booking .com charged 60 dollars and the hotel 70 Dollars . Not honest to not respect prices online !
It was cheap and the location was good. The breakfast was ample, with fruit and yogurt, although there was no decaf coffee.
Shared toilet was clean, but you have to walk past the reception area to get there. We didn't know, when we booked the room through Booked.net that there was no private bathroom. We found out after we'd booked. Probably wouldn't have booked there if we'd known.
The location was very convenient to the family I was visiting. I got an excellent price through Booked.net (cad 32 per night). When my plans changed, I was able to reschedule my nights without charge. The continental breakfast while not great, was better than I expected. Better than most Travelodge hotels.
The heat in my room was excessive. I had to open the window, and even so, it was still too hot. There was alot of dust along the baseboards, in the fan in the bathroom. Would have preferred being able to heat up the croissant for breakfast, and have expresso/cappucino coffee available.
It's clean and quiet, the staff is very nice. It's a small hotel, realy friendly. There are every facilities(wifi, computer, tv, breakfast...)
We can heard the sound outside
The location, only.
Room on a noisy street, not really clean. No one at reception during the night and early morning, which made the payment a difficult thing: was never reimbursed of one the double payment I made, even after several emails. Definitely not to be recommended.
For the money you really can't complain. Decent sized room with tv, sink, desk and storage facilities. Even the included help yourself breakfast was good. Good location within the Latin quarter and also metres from the subway station for easy transport around the city. Also near the famous and our now our favourite cafe- beauty's.
The girl who greeted was very nice and fresh fruit for breakfast.
It was more of a hostel than a hotel. It's a bunch of small rooms next to each other with a bathroom in the hall for everyone to use. My room stank of cigarette smoke which was unpleasant to have to open the window in cold weather.
Absolutely could not beat this price and location. Metro stop right next door, Mont Royal nightlife and restaurants nearby. Most other places we looked at were 2-3 times as expensive, usually B&Bs located a bit out of the way.
The location was great but the room was so horrible that I would stay somewhere else and take the metro to the plateau.
Horrible room! I expected two single beds not bunk beds that were swaying in the wind. They appeared to be very unsafe. We had to remove the upper mattress and put it on the floor. The hypoallergic duvets advertised was a laugh. It was a dirty feather duvet with no cover (who knows when it was last washed) and one of the beds had no duvet at all. When I asked for a duvet for the second bed none were avalable. The blanket on the bed was extremely old and very stained.. The whole place reeked of cheap air freshener. Never again!
